So many of you have been asking so how did Robert do it!?
It's an awesome story!
I'll start from the beginning...
One day Robert brought up the idea to get a bunch of people together to play kickball and told me I should invite everyone, including all MY friends. So i text as many people as I thought about and strangely enough they all text back saying "Yes". I thought wow my friends are so nice they want to come hang out with me and Robert, and they replied to my text in such a fast manner. Awesome so mine and Robert's family along with all of our friends were getting together in a week to play kickball! Isn't it strange how everyone just happens to be able to come?
Anyways.. the next day my sister comes over with a bunch of white shirts saying "my work ordered these shirts and didn't use them if you want them you can have them". I though what am I going to do with so many shirts? She left them. My mom, with her brilliant idea, said hey why don't y'all use them to make shirts for the kickball game. Ugh..too much work I thought. Na I don't like that idea.
The next day I went to work and my coworker brought up her brilliant idea...we should make team shirts. "Hey my mom said the same thing and my sister so happened to bring a bunch of shirts over, I guess we could do that I'll talk to Robert". So I talked to my brother and he thought it was a wonderful idea too. So when I talked to Robert about it, he was alllll for it. He wanted to put just a single letter of team names on the front of each shirt. Na I don't like that idea either, besides these were "MY" shirts "MY sister game them to ME". I said no, if we are going to do shirts we need to put a number on the back and put the entire team name. Robert didn't look to thrilled, "No, I think we should just do the first letter" said Robert. Ugh.. why is everyone being so difficult, this is MY Thing I planned IT!
The next night me and Robert went to go find stencils at Hobby Lobby. He wants BIG letters on the front and I still didn't want to do that, I wanted smaller letters with the entire names and a number. So we came to an agreement, we will put the one letter on the front and the number and the full name on the back. We got our stencils and stood in line. While checking out, I said "Robert did you know your stencils were that much? You didn't did you? I'll go put them back and we can get some smaller ones" "no, no it's fine I don't care about the price, I want these" "okay, but your wasting your money" "no I'm not we can re-use these" "When are we going to re-use 12" stencils!?" "Someday, don't worry about that".. so that was that. We got home and I told Robert here is the team name I want, "Bloody Hound Dogs, it was what me Krystin and Kaitlen use to call ourselves" (I have no idea why. ha) "Okay but I get to pick the other name" Rob said. "No, I want to do both of them..." but fine I said he could do the other one, only cause he's so cute. :)
The night after that, we got together to do the shirts. What would have taken us 30 minutes to do, Robert's original idea, is now going to take us about 3 hours since I wanted them to be my way. (each team name was exactly 15 letters long) I was so excited and was thinking everyone would be so surprised to see them and think we did a great job! Yay us!
The day of the get together came around and me, being the one who planned it and everything, decided to take charge and go to the park Rob chose and make sure we could resurve a spot. So I went on ahead by myself and checked out the park and I thought, "Na, I don't like it, we will go to the park down the street". So I called Robert and my mom to let them know I changed it to a better location. I texted everyone and waited at the park for everyone to arrive. People started showing up on time. Holly Cow nobody I know is EVER on time. So neat how things work out, isn't it? As I'm waiting for everyone to come I'm bragging about how well I planned everything and what a great job I did on the shirts...Once, all exactly 30 people, got there I took charge again and had already assigned everyone a team and shirt.
We played kickball for about 2 hours which I might say was awesome fun! All of a sudden everyone started walking away for a "water break, and team pictures" So neat that everyone brought their cameras and... camecorders?..to play kickball. We took pictures and while everyone was talking, my friend Krystin pulled me away. She began to express her deep felt feelings about needing to talk to me. Oh my gosh "I hope she is okay" I thought. My eyes were glued on my friend who looked like she might cry. All of a sudden my other friend, Amy, comes up "Hey, your lipstick matches your earrings and tennis did you do that on purpose?" I said "no..". This feels like a weird situation.. Krystin says "Oh hey Robert wants you" and she walks away like nothing.. Okay..what happened to the heart felt need to hang out with me..
I walk toward Robert with half the group being lined up by him. I thought "oh my gosh, he is trying to make them spell a different team name with all the letters." I watched as he says "you sit down, you stand, no you sit on the floor, get off the bleachers". Man, he is barking comands. I watched each person as they sat down until it was absolutely quiet. I stood there for about a minute before I even read it... "NAT WILL YOU MARRY ME". My heart leaped and I spun around to see him kneeling down with a ring in his hand..well he dropped it but quickly recovered and he put it on my finger. And of course I kept my cool and said "yes".. NOT! I boohood like a baby, flung my arms around his neck, I didn't even say "yes" until someone said "what did she say?" "Yes, of course it's yes!" I exclaimed. So I couldn't stop crying for about 10 minutes. What a baby I was, but Oh my goodness..was this not the most romantic story you have ever heard?!?!
So pretty much I didn't plan anything.. Robert asked my parents if he could marry me a month before. Robert had invited all my friends and family the week before I sent the text. Robert bought the shirts and gave them to my sister, to make up a story about how she got them. Robert told my mom, brother and coworker, Vanessa, to put the idea of team shirts in my head. Robert had already planned for 2 specific team names, but my lovely self changed the team name so he had to re-think names. Robert did everything, he worked so hard and it was better than anything I could have ever asked for. We are soo excited and happy! So here is the story many of you have asked for. Keep us in your prayers as we begin to make plans for our future!
